Ron Paul while being interviewed Saturday by CNN drew a crowd of about 300 supporters on the streets of New York City outside the Grand Hyatt on 42nd Street. Paul was in the hotel restaurant being interviewed as supporters chanted outside. The Ron Paul Crowd in NYC chanted “Ron Paul, Ron Paul” for at least 30 minutes as cabbies, truckers and others honked their horns as they drove by. After the interview Paul mingled with the crowd, then walked to the Grand Central restaurant where the Mises Institute luncheon was being held.
The excited banner waving group of supporters followed the candidate chanting “Ron Paul” over and over and causing everyone in the terminal to stop and watch. Paul spoke again for a couple of minutes as the crowd went wild. The candidate spoke on his themes of non interventionism, individual freedom, and limited government. The scene is becoming a common one as Paul regularly draws crowds at rallies of 1-2 thousand people and draws spontaneous groups in the hundreds when doing interviews. Ron Paul although barely covered by major media outlets at this point, is quickly becoming a political rock star with young voters. Paul's supporters believe that they can battle Giuliani for the Empire State and the party nomination.
